Syria

Syria is a country geographically below Turkey, above Jordan, to the east of Lebanon, and to the west of Iraq. It’s one of the best countries in the world and I’ve been blessed with the gift of growing up and living there for over 15 years.

May I know why do u like Syria so much? Of all the places you have travelled, why do you choose Syria to be your favourite Country? What’s the attraction of it?

    Hi,

Thanks for your comments on my blog. :)

I like Syria for many reasons. I grew up here so I have lots of memories of
the country, Syrians are wonderful, hospitable, friendly people, the culture is so much richer than that of Western countries, the country is beautiful, and I love history and there’s lots of that here. Those are just some of the reasons I love living in Syria.

    hi there,

i may be moving to damascus for a year with my family – we have 3 young children.
do you think we will be ok?

what would be the average rent for a 3 bedroom place near the french institute?

an estimate for cost of living would be helpful if u are able to assist.

    cheers,

    ian

If you mean by french Institute, the French Cultural Center, I don’t think you’ll find a nearby apartment because its located in the middle of the commercial district, which is very crowded and noisy. I would really recommend New Dommar, its very affordable (New Furnished 3BR apartment around 600 -700 USD). New Dommar is 15 minutes driving distance from the french cultural center and the area is new. You can try Mazzeh, but the houses there are older, and the rent is higher. Living in Syria is cheap overall but whats most expensive here is Accommodation, Cars and Petrol. Anyhow I hope you have a great time in syria. Make sure you always negotiate when your buying anything or renting, Syrians are used to asking for a high price.. so price negotiation usually works.
