I take back a little bit of what I said in my previous post. It is beginning to look..a little..a little bit like Christmas…a little bit. The convenience store we go to is stocked up on ornaments, chocolate in the shapes of candy canes, candy canes in the shape of chocolate. Some people have trees out on their balconies, and sometimes you can see a iridescent blue or yellow glow coming from inside someones home. I was able to do some x-mas shopping today so I feel better now that I’ve got some of it done. I guess the weather is Christmassy….we even had hail yesterday. I went to bed the day before yesterday, listening to the rain; I woke up yesterday to the rain. It fell in sheets, and then was on and off. All of a sudden we hear, POW POW POW! PAM! POW! We all run to the windows. It was hail. About the size of bouncy-balls. PAM! POW! It was great :)

I’ve been saying how it doesn’t really feel/look like Christmas, but….in a way it’s nice to be away from all the commercialism of Christmas that goes on in the West. It makes focusing on what Christmas is really about. As you already can tell, I have a bit of a problem with doing that…

On a different, but slightly related note, I googled images for “christmas in syria”. I wanted to see what would come up and if I could use any of it on here. I think I found a Syrian’s blog/website. He wrote a little bit about Christmas in Damascus. Here it is:

Christmas – Damascus, Syria

This is a part of how Christmas looks in Damascus, Syria.

I walked in “Bab Tuma” area where you can find lot of Christmas decorations there.
It was nice walking in the market there, the weather was nice ~5 C, well maybe not that nice, but I like cold weather =)

I also made a video walking in that area and walking in the old Allies of Old Damascus which I will post it to my Blog.

Maybe it isn’t a great photo, but I think it is enough to give the feel of that place!

While walking in the streets near “Bab Tuma” in Damascus, Syria, I found this huge Santa Clause! … I had some fun poking it :D !

Cya ;)
